Founded in 2025 by Gary Rudnick, Fire Up THE Grill Foundation in Los Angeles brings people together to prepare and serve free meals to Angelenos experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Its community gatherings create a space for nourishment, conversation, connection, and dignity—neighbors showing up for neighbors, one meal at a time. The foundation is powered by volunteers and community support, with meals and essential supplies made possible through donations of food, goods, and financial contributions.
Gary, who created the organization after feeling that he could not simply stand by while people in the city he loves were going hungry, turned that conviction into something tangible and communal: rather than approaching people from a distance, he brings people together around food. His approach is direct and personal—show up, cook, serve, listen, and treat every person with dignity. What began as an individual desire to help has grown into a community effort, bringing volunteers and supporters together at meals throughout Los Angeles.
