The Place4Grace is dedicated to restoring families impacted by incarceration by helping children maintain meaningful relationships with their incarcerated parents. Founded in 2009, the California nonprofit provides family reunification, literacy, mentoring, and reentry programs that recognize incarceration affects entire families—not just those serving a sentence. Through innovative, trauma-informed programming, The Place4Grace works to strengthen parent-child bonds, reduce the emotional impact of separation, and create pathways toward healing for both children and parents.

Founder and Executive Director Karen McDaniel brings lived experience to The Place4Grace. After raising two children while their father served a life sentence, she turned her family's journey into decades of advocacy for children affected by parental incarceration, building programs centered on healing, connection, and hope.

The two teenagers featured in this series shot in los angeles, Angel and Elijah, have been friends since meeting at Camp Grace, where children spend meaningful time with their incarcerated fathers through music, art, and shared activities. The program helps families strengthen parent-child bonds and begin the process of reunification long before a father returns home.
